A Workshop On Relationships with Dr. Patrice Heller

Communication is often the thick, problematic skin of the multi-layered relational "onion." There are helpful, evidenced-based steps YOU can take to re-establish and sustain feelings of safety, kindess, genuine caring and intimacy.  We will explore solutions to our toxic ways of relating/hurting each other.

This workshop is open to couples and to anyone who seeks to improve communication with loved ones in your life.

Our Presenter: Dr. Patrice Heller is a licensed psychologist, marriage and family therapist, rabbi and professor at Temple University. Her integrative psychotherapy practice serves adults of all ages and couples in Chestnut Hill and Ambler.

Memories of My Father:  From Baseball Pitcher to World War II Veteran

In honor of Memorial Day, we will host a presentation by Robert L. Righter.  Mr. Righter was an instructor of U.S. History and political science in the North Penn School District for 38 years.  He was recipient of the Edwin G. Holl Historic Achievement Award sponsored by the Lansdale Historical Society in 2010.  Mr. Righter's passion for history was influenced greatly by his father's military service in World War II.

In this presentation, Mr. Righter will share memories and personal mementos from his father's service in the European theater of war, including his involvement in the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp.  Part history lesson and part tribute, this presentation illustrates how one's personal connection to the past builds a bridge to the present and a legacy for the future.  Mr. Righter encourages others to come and share their stories of veterans of World War II. Please join us!  Sign up in the library binder or email events@ wvpl.org to RSVP.

Know Your Pelvic Floor May 10 at 1:30 PM Blue Bell

How much information did you receive regarding your pelvic floor and incontinence when you were pregnant, post-partum or even years later?  Issues like leaking and diastases rectus abdominus (when your abdominal ligament stretches with pregnancy) aren't things we talk about!  But the truth is, they affect 50% of women and are often highly treatable.

Join our seminar to gain vital information about how to address these common issues and what YOU can do about it. Empower yourself with some basic strategies and a plan to move forward.  This workshop is appropriate for women at any age: newly postpartum women, pregnant women, women who have been postpartum for years and anyone who is experiencing symptoms.  SIGN UP in the binder in the lobby or via email at events@wvpl.org

Hosted by Lisa Beitman, MPT.  Lisa specializes in Women's Health and Pelvic Floor physical therapy and is also a expert clinician in Neurological physical therapy.  She has over 16 years of experience and, as the mother of two young children, brings firsthand experience to this sensitive topic.
