An Evening with the Villains and Villainesses of Opera

Some of our favorite characters in opera are the bad guys and dangerous women. There are almost no rivels to Scarpia in Tosca, Lago in Otello and Don Giovanni. All unrepentant haters of moral and arrogant to the very notion of God. The women who make us think twice about the "fairer sex" are self-possessed like Manon, ambitious like Lady MacBeth and murderously seductive like Carmen.

Join us to look at some of the best of the worst characteres from grand operas.

Created by composers such as Mozart, Verdi, Bizet, Puccini and others.

American Attitude Towards War Since 1914

From the start of the First World War through our involvement in Afghanistan, American thinking about war has been molded by experience, perception, participation, narrative and counter narrative. Explore the web of interactions throughout the century and examine ways in which things we " know" are not completely true.

Presented by John Shepherd. A military veteran and retired defense contractor.
