The Art of the Breath: A Functional Breathing Workshop with Matthew Mitlas
Breath is an essential part of life that is too often overlooked. Tangible yet mysterious, the breath can influence our physical and mental energy levels, induce a sense of calm or prepare us for fight or flight  and anywhere in between.  An awareness of the breath can instill a sense of connection to something bigger; a sense of fulfillment that can be easily missed in our daily worldly pursuits.
In this experiential workshop, the library's yoga instructor Matthew Mitlas will take us through a journey of the breath. We will embark on our journey with playfulness and curiosity, pondering what it means to breathe while answering more tactile questions:
What are the mechanics of breathing?
Is there a proper way to breathe?
When does air become breath?
Complete with a guided meditation, you will leave class feeling calm and equipped with a variety of breathing techniques to use in your daily life.
Please wear loose clothing and bring a yoga mat or a beach towel on which to lie down.
This event is free and open to adults, ages 18 and up. RSVP at
