Set in 1970’s Harlem, this poetic adaptation of James Baldwin’s landmark novel of the same name is about a young couple who are planning their life together when one of them is wrongfully accused of a crime. Jenkins’ gorgeous cinematic technique mirrors the thoughtful prose of Baldwin’s text. Regina King delivers a breathtaking performance alongside KiKi Layne, and Stephan James.
