Stained Glass by Henry Holiday

Thursday, May 7, 2015 - 2:00pm
Event location:
Blue Bell

Presented by Architect and Historian George Bryant

Philadelphia area stained glass windows were designed by the noted English artist Henry Holiday at the behest of George Woodward, a Houston heir who was on the board of directors of Chestnut Hill Academy at the time. Henry Holiday’s detailed work shows influences from his contemporaries and friends in the Pre-Raphaelite movement that favored realism, even in the depiction of religious themes. Holiday had previously created commissioned pieces for churches in New York City, Albany and Washington D.C.
