EVNET FULL: Mad Science - Science of Toys Workshop

Thursday, July 27, 2017 - 2:00pm
Event location:
Blue Bell

Did you know that some toys work because of basic science principles? Students will bounce balls and experiment with a magnetic spin wheel among other classic toys to discover the science of motion through fun hands-on activities. Find out how our woodpecker toy works due to potential and kinetic energy and take home a bouncy ball that the students create themselves!

Ages 6-12 ~ Registration Required. Sign up here. ~ Summer Enrichment Class

EVENT FULL: Mad Science - Radical Robots Science Workshop

Wednesday, July 19, 2017 - 4:00pm
Event location:
Blue Bell

Radical Robots gives students a chance to see how science and technolgy go hand-in-hand. Real robots are devices that operate automatically with humanlike skill. Students discover how robots work in our place and are introduced to several real-life examples such as the Canadarm. Children move through learning centers to test and differentiate between robots, automatons, and remote control devices. They learn how robotic devices use sensors to learn about their environment. Students will build and take home a mechanical robot hand.

Ages 6-12 ~ Registration required. Sign up here for 4 PM ~ Summer Enrichment Class

Mad Science - Moving Motion Science Workshop

Thursday, July 13, 2017 - 4:00pm
Event location:
Blue Bell

Students catapult into Newton’s three laws of motion! In this workshop presented by Mad Science of West NJ, students yank a cloth from under dishes and send crash dummies flying. They adjust the mass of two identical cars and learn how heavier objects need a bigger push to move in the same direction. Children drop two plastic eggs (one heavier than the other) and find out they hit the ground at the same time! They see action-reaction forces at work as a fan cart races across the room and mini-rockets launch through the air. They twirl into action with the Newton Spinner take-home. Students won't want to miss this hands on science workshop all about motion!
