Explore the science behind ancient Egyptian mummies, how the mummification process developed through time, and how mummies were actually made!

 

Dr. Stephen Phillips will lead this program.  He is a professional archaeologist and an outstanding speaker.


He has traveled extensively and participated in a wide range of excavations for more than 25 years, including in Jordan and Egypt.

Watch chilling experiments with dry ice, bubble potions, and lots of fearsome fog!

Hear the tales of Count Eggbert and Countess Eggberta as they battle the wicked witch.  Through science and magic, watch as the wicked witch is melted right before your eyes!

The audience will also find out how the seemingly sane Mr. Bernoulli helped the mad scientist float an eyeball in the air!

 

Wear your costumes and get ready for a spooky night!


All ages are welcome.

Meet Founding Father Dr. Benjamin Rush

Meet Founding Father Dr. Benjamin Rush


He was a surgeon general for the Revolutionary War, first professor of chemistry in America, the Father of Psychiatry and a humanitarian who organized the first anti-slavery society in America.  He was also a signer of the Declaration of Independence. 

WHO WAS HE?  He was Dr. Benjamin Rush.

Find out more about this lesser-known "Benjamin" from Philadelphia and Founding Father in an exciting portrayal by Bob Gleason.  "Meet" Dr. Rush and discover his pioneering contributions to American society, medicine and politics.


The event is free and open to the public. History buffs of all ages encouraged to attend.  Say you'll be there and sign up at rushwvpl.eventbrite.com. 


Bob Gleason is a member of Philadelphia's American Historical Theatre.  He has presented programs featuring nearly 150 historical figures, stretching over 2000 years of history, across 21 states; including performances at the White House Visitors Center, The Smithsonian Institution, Mount Vernon, Ford's Theater, the National Constitution Center and Independence Hall. 


NOTE:  Mr. Gleason's presentation is a companion program to our upcoming "Let's Discuss It! Author event with Upper Dublin Public Library to be held on October 29 at 7 PM, featuring author and journalist Stephen Fried and the release of his newest novel, "Rush: Revolution, Madness & the Visionary Doctor Who Became a Founding Father (September, 2018).
