Who Was Harriet Tubman?

Wednesday, February 13, 2019 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm
Event location:
Blue Bell

Join us for an exciting portrayal of Harriet Tubman.  Watch and learn as reenactor Dr. Daisy Century brings Harriet Tubman’s indomitable spirit  to life in this engaging one-woman show!  ALL AGES ARE WELCOME!  Kids, teens, and adults!

Harriet Tubman was a brave woman who worked as a Union spy and nurse during the Civil War.  She rescued more than 70 slaves using the Underground Railroad.   Tubman encouraged people to put others first and claimed that during her Railroad days, “I never ran my train off the track and I never lost a passenger.”  Dr. Century's portrayal will take each and every audience member along for this ride!

Trained as a teacher, Dr. Daisy Century earned a BA in Biology at Claflin College, a Master’s in Science Education from South Carolina University and a PhD from Temple University, also in Science Education.  Dr. Century has been a performer with the American Historical Theatre(AHT) since 1999.  She has appeared in venues that include the National Defense Organization, Belmont Mansion, National Archives, Sojourner Truth House, Theodore Roosevelt National Historic Site, the Helicopter Museum, and numerous schools, libraries, museums and historic sites throughout New Jersey.

SAY YOU'LL BE THERE!  RSVP at historywvpl.eventbrite.com or email events@wvpl.org.
