If Beale Street Could Talk

Director Barry Jenkins’ follow-up to his 2016 Best Picture Winner Moonlight. Set in 1970’s Harlem, this poetic adaptation of James Baldwin’s landmark novel of the same name is about a young couple who are planning their life together when one of them is wrongfully accused of a crime. Jenkins’ gorgeous cinematic technique mirrors the thoughtful prose of Baldwin’s text. Regina King delivers a breathtaking performance alongside KiKi Layne, and Stephan James.

Join us on the first Wednesday of the month at Ambler Theater for the afternoon showing of the chosen film. Each film will be announced 10 days before the showing, and the discussion afterward will be moderated by library staff and theater staff.
