Memories of My Father:  From Baseball Pitcher to World War II Veteran

In honor of Memorial Day, we will host a presentation by Robert L. Righter.  Mr. Righter was an instructor of U.S. History and political science in the North Penn School District for 38 years.  He was recipient of the Edwin G. Holl Historic Achievement Award sponsored by the Lansdale Historical Society in 2010.  Mr. Righter's passion for history was influenced greatly by his father's military service in World War II.

In this presentation, Mr. Righter will share memories and personal mementos from his father's service in the European theater of war, including his involvement in the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp.  Part history lesson and part tribute, this presentation illustrates how one's personal connection to the past builds a bridge to the present and a legacy for the future.  Mr. Righter encourages others to come and share their stories of veterans of World War II. Please join us!  Sign up in the library binder or email events@ to RSVP.
