Weekend at the Shore

Event location
Blue Bell

Ages 4-7 years

Students will listen to a story about a man visiting a riverbank and seashore for his weekend holiday. While accompanying the main character, children will be introduced to famous artworks by Cassatt, Gauguin, Glackens, and Seurat. They will have a chance to discuss the paintings, noticing (among other things) the colors of the water. Story, games, and discussions will draw children's attention to the mood of presented artworks and evoke their personal memories and imagination.

The second portion of class will involve children making a craft, inspired by the paintings we learned about.
