Improv For Kids, CLASS 1

Event location
Blue Bell

For kids and teens, ages 9-14 years

When you sign up, you are signing up for ALL FOUR classes (Not just July 10th). The dates for these classes are July 10, 17, 24, and 31 - All at 2:00pm. If you have questions about this, please email emazzoni@wvpl.org

This is a 4-day class that begins by building the basic skills and confidence needed to improvise, in a non-intimidating way, before leading to some fun classic improv games, perform scenes with some central fun gimmick, and even perform a fully improvised show!

Class 1 (July 10) - The basics. Introducing all the key skills of improv: speaking freely, making offers, agreeing with offers and building on them, and creating scenes.

Class 2 (July 17) - Character. Week two is designed to provide multiple different ways of coming up with characters for improv scenes, and how solid characters can create durable scenes.

Class 3  (July 24) - Status. how one character may seem more important or powerful than another, and the different ways that might come across. Discuss the different behaviors that communicate high or low status.

Class 4 (July 31) - Scenes and storytelling. Great characters with a clear relationship in a clear location; what happens next? Scenes where characters name a problem or objective and then achieve it are boring. Change of some kind shows growth; characters become changed by their environment, experience new emotions or a change in status.

When you register, it is good for ALL FOUR DAYS.  Please do not sign up 4 separate times.
